I have three dogs which means we have a great relationship with a groomer.
We have been going to her for ten years as she does great work at a reasonable price.
Every four weeks, I get a reminder text message to come in for their appointment.
I didn’t get the text for my December appointment.
Noticing the dogs were shaggy yesterday, I called the groomer asking for an update.
No answer.
She called me back explaining her diagnosis and the aftermath of tests, appointments, and, upcoming surgery.
She’ll be gone for six weeks dealing with this health matter while her business may falter in a difficult time.
While she employs other groomers, there are clients who deal only with her.
There are few systems in place to ensure her business continues to generate revenue in her absence.
Nobody likes to talk about death, but as a business owner, you owe it to your family and stakeholders to take the time to think about the unforeseen and plan for it.
