I’ve been transitioning the family to step away from gifts during the holidays and think about experiences and investments.
This year, my middle son, a second-year student in college studying hospitality management, mentioned he wanted to start a t-shirt design business over the summer. He’d been doodling designs for unique collections based on things he likes like certain flowers, words, and car culture.
Instead of gifts, we reached out to family and friends to do a business shower.
I setup a Sign-Up Genius to select items for people to buy or send money.
It was such a joy to see people respond.
One friend offered to be my son’s first client. He and his partners own a neighborhood barber shop and they want to sell merchandise to clients.
As we build out his Shopify platform, he stays up late learning how to work the heat press machine and get comfortable printing things out on the Cricut and color printer.
It’s great to see how a person with #autism when given the right tools and sense of empowerment steps up to the plate.
Each morning as I drive him to school, he keeps saying, “Just want to say, “Thanks, Dad” for doing this. I am so excited.”
I can’t wait to see what else the Lord has in store for him.
